QUOTES FROM OUR CLIENTS
The following are some of the benefits I derived from participation in the Leadership Training Course:
- A heightened awareness of the need to set and work towards professional and personal goals.
- The importance of praising and showing appreciation for staff - sending "Thank You" notes, etc.
- The role of delegating in preventing burn-out, and its importance in boosting the morale of the staff to whom work is delegated. The message is clear - I know you can do this; I trust you to do it; I will train you to do it; and expect accountability.
- The exercises/warm up activities/brain teasers were a terrific teaching tool. They served to reinforce our appreciation of each other, get us thinking, and keep us alert and eager to learn.
- The lesson on time management and the matrixes that we filled out for 3 consecutive work days pinpointed graphically how much time was actually spent on the activities of work, and the tremendous amount of interruptions that occur in a day.
- The importance of prioritizing tasks that need to be done according to "Must do" and "should do" was more practical than the numbered system I was used to.
- The necessity to have daily affirmations in my life was reinforced. Since the course ended I purchased another book on affirmations - "The Don't Sweat Affirmations - 100 Inspirations to Help Make Your Life Happier and More Relaxed" by Richard Carlson, Ph.D. I read it every day and make copies for the Executive Director and group home managers.
- The lessons on communication and human relations were also invaluable. I have become more aware of my own communication style, and the need to check with the staff that the message sent was the message received. It is no longer enough for me to say, "But I told them." I realize I might have to say it over and over again until they get it. And I might have to show them.
- The learning is lifelong, and transferable to all aspects of life. I have my notes, the manual and the audio CD's when I need a refresher on a particular topic.
I could go on, but do not want to take up too much of your time. The ease and expertise with which Larry taught the course were crucial factors to the success of the course and extent of the learning each of our staff derived. Thanks so much Larry.
